Sandra Van Tuyl  uses the patterns and elements found in the city to create abstract, rhythmic landscapes. Her work ranges from large format in public spaces to small mixed media pieces.

Currently her paintings Prairie Redux are on display at the Missouri Bank Crossroads Artboards through the Charlotte Street Foundation.

Sandra has also had public art installed in Blue Springs and Jefferson City, Missouri. She is the recipient of an ArtKC Fund Inspiration Grant for her public artwork. She has been artist residence for the National Park System twice.

In February 2018 along with artist Julie Denesha and the Carter Arts Center, Sandra will be presenting; One Thousand Footsteps Tell the Story: Refugee journeys through art and conversation.

Her art has been exhibited in Kansas City at the H&R Block ArtSpace flat files, the Carter Art Center, the Charno Gallery at the Kansas City Artist Coalition and the Leedy-Volkus. She has also had exhibits at Williams Wood University in Fulton, Mo., Salina Art Center, Salina Kan. the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins, Colorado. Sandra’s art is in several corporate collections and she has exhibited at corporate headquarters in the ArtsKC Now Showing program.
