12th Street Jump featuring Tal Farlow

12th Street Jump is Kansas City’s only live jazz, blues and comedy radio show.  Join us at the Green Lady Lounge on May 31st @ 7:30 PM as we celebrate the accomplishments of Tal Farlow, a self-taught Jazz guitarist who brought a fresh perspective to playing jazz guitar.

Farlow earned his place in the world of jazz performers among the likes of Charles Mingus, Red Norvo, Oscar Pettiford, Max Roach and other greats.  Farlow’s innovative playing technique involved early usage of playing notes on the fretboard with the picking hand and using complex clusters of notes when most contemporary guitarists focused on rhythmic chords and linear melodies.
