Rockhurst student choruses will perform the 27th annual Christmas concert, Ceremony of Lessons and Carols, on Saturday Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Arrupe Hall.
This annual holiday concert traces its origins to King’s College Chapel at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England, where the first Ceremony of Nine Lessons and Carols was performed on Christmas Eve in 1918.
The performance will alternate between scriptural readings that present the Christmas story with musical selections that illuminate each reading. Audience members are invited to join the chorus and instrumentalists in the singing of traditional carols.
