New Spring Horizons

New Spring Horizons

Presented by Kansas City Chamber Orchestra and Park University at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

The evening will feature award-winning soloists Mansur Kadirov (cello), Igor Khukhua (violin), and Kenny Broberg, the Silver Medalist of the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

“We are thrilled to perform once again at the Kauffman Center for our fourth concert with the incredibly talented young musicians from the ICM,” said Bruce Sorrell, music director of the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, who will be conducting Spring Horizons along with Steve McDonald, ICM director of orchestral activities. “The evening will give audiences a chance to experience some of the historically most beloved and challenging works in fresh new performances showcasing these wonderful young soloists on the verge of national and international careers.”

Audiences will travel the road from the playfulness and vivacity of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, to the heart-melting solo cello lines of the Tchaikovsky Rococo Variations, and finally to the mountain-top experience of the Beethoven “Emperor” Concerto for piano, truly one of the great achievements in western music.
