XXVI - Latin American Cinema Festival of Kansas City

Presented by Sociedad Hidalgo at Rio Theater

Sociedad Hidalgo presents its XXVI - Latin American Cinema Festival of Kansas City to take place at the Rio Theater on September 2, 9, 16, 30, and October 7, 2017. This annual event consists of five award winning films from Latin America and Spain. Films are in Spanish with English subtitles. Group discussions with the public moderated by professors of area colleges and universities.

September 9 | Un Lugar en el Caribe (A Place in the Caribbean) | Honduras, 2017

September 16 | El Pais Del Miedo (The Country of Fear) | Spain, 2015

September 30 | Historias Del Canal (Panama Canal Stories) Panama, 2014

October 7 | Carga Sellada (Sealed Cargo) | Bolivia, 2015

Admission Info

Admission: $6 / person or $25 for a pass to the five films. Tickets will be sold at the theater on the festival days on a "cash only" basis. Please no checks or CC.

There will be post-film group discussions with the public on the values raised by the films. Discussions will be moderated by humanities scholars from area colleges and universities. Main funding for this program is provided by the Kansas Humanities Council.
