Catherine Vesce has been a practicing Painter-Printmaker for 45 years and a Secondary Art Teacher for 30. She retired to full time art making in 2004, showing and selling from her Hobbs Building/West Bottoms studio in Kansas City for 10 year and is now working in her home studio in Overland Park.
She earned a Master of Arts degree. in Printmaking & Painting with honors from UMKC and a Master of Arts in Art Education from Oberlin College in Ohio. She attended the Kansas City Art Institute, University of Dayton and St. Mary College.. She served as Art Department Head at the Pembroke Hill School, The Barstow School and Hickman Mills High School and was also CSD#1 District Art Coordinator for ten years. During her years of teaching, she continued producing art and exhibiting regionally in numerous juried and invitational exhibitions. She received national recognition with a fellowship award from the Marie Walsh-Sharpe Art Foundation and the National Art Education Association for its Teacher-Artist Program in Colorado Springs.
Her work is included in the collections of: KU Med Cancer Center; the Stowers Institute; H&R Block World Headquarters, City of Overland Park; Rockhurst University;Heartland Regional Medical Center, St Joseph, MO; the Albrecht-Kemper Museum in St. Joseph, MO and the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art in Sedalia, MO., which included her painting in several exhibits of its permanent collection; and over 100 private collections throughout the US.
