Denita Robinson

I am a self-taught mixed media artist. I was born in Picayune, Mississippi and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. My mother recognized my creativity when I was 3 years old. She had given me a knitting loom to keep me occupied, in which I figured out how to use. My work is just a reflection of my life experiences growing up in Kansas City, and spending my entire Summers as a child well into my teenage years, in Mississippi and New Orleans. I will search through my family photo album for references, or recollect an recent experience that sparks inspiration.  I often paint from things imagined. I paint for the simple task of discovery, pushing myself to step out of my introverted comfort zone. 

My mediums I prefer to work with are oil and acrylic paints. I will also incorporate charcoal, pencil, and watercolors into my art work. I find myself venturing back to textile/fiber creating works of art through fashion. 

I am currently exploring painting in larger scale. I have experience in painting murals.
