When I make a photograph, I am looking for the exceptional moment hidden in ordinary events. I view my surroundings from a slightly different perspective through the lens; cutting through the familiar layers to find a story that might be overlooked by the casual observer.
I have always been drawn to black and white images. Although we live in a world filled with color, I tend to look through my lens with a grayscale palette. I find that the absence of color strips away distractions and brings clarity to an image.
While my photographs are meant to highlight the unexpected, I also strive to find elements that draw in the observer on a personal level. When someone looks at one of my images and can see a part of themselves, that is when it is no longer just a photograph but becomes art
