I paint objects trying to remain on this earth. I don’t know exactly why. I do know that the nostalgia they offer is tricky—as the original builders are often long gone. Painting with oil allows just enough time, and it offers a color palette that best matches how the object makes me feel. The artist Sue Coe once told me that that one day I would have to paint. I don’t know how she knew this, but she was right.
