Esther Boyd, a native of Oakley, Kansas, is a Kansas City-based painter and illustrator.
Boyd uses simple, strong brushwork to build compositions of overlapping colors. Her work also depicts inanimate objects in pastel colors and with transparent effects. Boyd’s influences include artists such as John Singer Sargent and Claude Monet, as well as Asian culture, surface design and textiles.
In August, Boyd was one of three artists to earn an honorable mention for her work “Sunlight Peaches”
