Kansas City-based artist Janis Sweeney is a fine arts printmaker, collaborator, and curator.

Influenced by man-made and natural structure, her mark-making is explored and expressed through her intaglio and serigraph prints on paper.  Drawn to printmaking for its history and her love of process, she enjoys the experimental breadth it offers her practice and the expressive image-making that comes from it.  A Bachelor of Fine Arts honors graduate of George Mason University, Sweeney has studied under Master Printmaker Sarah Amos and has been awarded printmaking residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and  Penland School of Crafts.  She has been exhibiting nationally and internationally since 2011 including The Target Gallery, George Mason University, Kent State University, Red Filter Fine Arts Gallery, Manhattan Graphics Center, Hong Kong Graphics, Southern Graphics Council International, WPA/Hickok Cole, and the Baltimore Washington International Airport.

Her current studio practice is located in the Cross Roads Arts District of Kansas City and at home in Olathe, Kansas where she pursues her printmaking full time and is also owner/operator of Quarter Moon Press.
