KE is a textile and performing artist possessing the innovative ability to formulate fabrics and seams into wonderful stories. She obtained her sewing skill at the tender age of 6 from her mother. Mixed media techniques from her 7th grade teacher Ms. Cook and advanced art classes at the Greater Kansas City Boy’s & Girls Club under the direction of Billie Hayes.
Her visionary process evokes and informs viewers by exploring tangible and verbal artforms. KE art quilts, abstracts and panels are constructed of paper, African or cotton fabric on canvas or wood panels. She enjoys creating 2D abstracts to engage viewers with exploring her artforms and passion for art.
September 2020, KE resigned from her full-time career as a Director of Visitors Experience & Community Engage to pursued her dream as full-time artist. November 2020, her first solo titled: “Our Ancestors’ unFINISHED Stories on the LINE in america…” was on display at the Black Archives of Mid America and The Bunker Center for the Arts. KE implemented collaborations with museums, art galleries, libraries and culture organizations to assist art viewers with exploring her summary of work.
This quote best expresses how KE hopes people feel when they view her work: “There are times people don’t want to hear what you’re saying, but they will relate and engage to what you express through ART.”
