Mark Mohr grew up in a rural area west of Wichita , KS. He enjoyed easy access to the city, while treasuring the quiet, yet adventurous country life. Living amidst contrasting styles, coupled with his desire to draw, fueled a passion that endures. His Fine Arts degree from Wichita State University opened a career in commercial art. After some years, his work took a turn to the fine arts with watercolors and oils.
Watercolor’s unique qualities energized him to illustrate several children’s books. One of them titled The Storm, was a Smithsonian Notable Book for Children, a Junior Library Guild selection, a Children’s Book Council Notable Book for Social Studies, and a 1995 Parent’s Choice Award.
Mark thrives on the process. His cityscapes and landscapes provide a reorientation to nature and our common surroundings.
