Maryanna Adelman is a Kansas City based artist. Observational drawing is the root of all her work. Recently, vines, little tangles of wire, bits of string and other detritus found discarded have caught her attention. During the drawing process, the work pushes beyond the initial exploration of line and moves into metaphor. The initial snags and snarls become a meditative labyrinth moving through time and space.

Maryanna earned her BFA in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute and her MA in Studio Art from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Her work has been shown at the Nerman Museum, the Late Show Gallery, Habitat Contemporary Gallery, H&R Block Artspace, Arts KC and the Kansas City Artists Coalition, where she maintains her studio.
