Melissa Dawdy

Local Kansas City artist who studied and graduated with a BFA in Commercial Art/Graphic Design from the University of  Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO.  The owner of, The White Rabbit Art & Photography as well as partner/co-owner of Crude Comics LLC.

My philosophy revolves around experiencing the world and every corner and culture in it. I’m drawn to current social issues and an awareness of them, the development and demise of humanity, conservation and environmental protection initiatives, scientific advancements and exploration of space and time, the concept of illusion and infinite possibilities of perceptions, designing my own reality, experimentation with multiple techniques and mediums, involvement in regular critiques and conversations regarding an individuals experience when viewing my work, advertising and promotion, comic book art and production, and enjoying every moment I have while encouraging others to share their thoughts as well as express their emotions. I seek to invite provoking conversations with others in regards to my works and the paths we may venture down whilst discussing them. I want to cultivate minds and open them to other possibilities that may have remained veiled prior to our encounter. I want to make a change in this world by leaving footprints that look like multi-colored brush strokes, cater to evolution by inspiring bigger ideas, and create art that focus’ more on making people feel something rather than a simple and shallow aesthetic. I am driven to make people curious by giving them something worth thinking about; something worth questioning.
