Fibers intertwine and a resonance emerges. Susan is a native Kansas Weaver, who also practices yoga, intertwines both to harness a calming inner strength in a creative way. While mastering the skill of loom weaving, abandoned traditional methods to allow the flow of intuitions guide her work. A nod to Wabi-Sabi, to let the process of weaving simply be. A balance between the art and the artist, with its imperfections and impermanence. This blending of meditation and weaving provides a patience space for heart and mind. An intentional contemplation emerges which guides her weavings. Susan’s work is calming and healing which often translates to the viewer, evoking a positive emotional resonance. Each unique creation is an exploration in the surface-story which peacefully emerges. The titles reflect her calming energy transferred into each piece. Her weavings display well in most corporate settings such as hospitals, offices, banks, etc. Humble materials are used; reclaimed bits and pieces of yarn, clothing, and discarded fibers; items forgotten, tossed aside, worn-to-threadbare. The tactical and methodical work of weaving in this manner becomes a physical meditation. Her objective in using simple materials is to restore beauty and dignity to forgotten things.
