POSTPONED - 2-DAY TEACHER WORKSHOP

Are you a middle- or high-school sewing educator looking to align your skills and curriculum with fashion industry standards?
Join us for a two-day workshop designed to help educators polish their technical abilities in preparation for increased Family and Consumer Sciences curricula. Previous sewing machine and garment construction experience is essential.
Only 10 places!
Teachers will:
Learn basic draping techniques to create a skirt and/or pants;
Learn basic flat pattern drafting of a bodice;
Advance knowledge of industrial sewing machine functions, parts, and maintenance; Become knowledgeable about many types of fabric;
and Learn from their peers’ classroom management techniques, assignment ideas, and more. Basic fabric for product development and sewing machines will be provided;
participants must provide their own sewing kit and fabric for sewing projects. A shopping list will be provided.
Teachers will have access to the following machines and equipment:
Programmable/automatic Brother industrial straight-stitch sewing machines, Traditional/non-automatic JUKI industrial straight-stitch sewing machines, Janome School Mate 7330 and HD-3000 straight-stitch home sewing machines, JUKI industrial serger, Babylock and Janome home sergers, Coverstitch and blindstitch sewing machines, and Ironing station featuring a professional grade iron and ironing board with a built-in steamer.
Continental breakfast will be provided. We can offer lunch and hotel recommendations. If so desired, a Dutch dinner can be arranged on Friday night.
This class will be taught by Rightfully Sewn Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Pamela Lucas. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and has over 20 years of teaching experience.
