Arch Inverted

Arch Inverted features a group of artists forged by respective ties to St. Louis, home to the Gateway Arch, symbol of St. Louis, a gateway to the west.
An arch, inverted, in comparison to the usual, offers a wholly different form of support: the arch inverted resists sideways forces. Such a force, a pull or a poke, attempting to alter motion or emotion, comes from an interaction between two: perhaps here, a body, a home, an identity, a memory.

The artists in Arch Inverted explore forces both internal and external, abstract and physical, and those that come with sufficient intensity and urgency — each working within the fixed support of keen formal and material consideration to construct, and sometimes as quickly, take apart. Things are simultaneously much more and much less stable than they appear to be.
