“Artfully Missouri: an exhibit of Paintings by Gale Stockwell” (1907-1983) will run from August 17 – Sept. 29, 2017, at the Ben Ferrel Platte County Museum at 220 Ferrel Street, Platte City, MO. 64079
Visitors can see how Gale Stockwell helped preserve history in his paintings from 1930-1970 of the farms, wheat fields, homes, towns, historic buildings and countryside of Northwest Missouri. His most well-known work is an oil of Main Street, Parkville, which he completed for the WPA in 1933, during the Great Depression.
