Buxtehude: Membra Jesu Nostri with William Baker Festival Singers & Chamber Orchestra

The William Baker Festival Singers & Chamber Orchestra presents the deeply moving Membra Jesu Nostri of Dietrich Buxtehude.  The six Latin cantatas that comprise the work will be interspersed with appropriate selections from the Sacred Harp and African-American spirituals tradition, along with God So Loved the World by John Stainer and Anthems for the Cross by Kansas City composer Geoffrey Wilcken.

The annual concert commemorates the memory of educator, philanthropist and business leader Kenneth Charles Babcock, 1941-2013, a champion of the Festival Singers for many years.

The William Baker Festival Singers is a 50-voice semi-professional chorale specializing in short-form sacred classics and spirituals from across the globe. Based in Kansas City since 1998, the choir has performed in New York City, Chicago, St. Louis, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Austin, New Orleans, San Antonio, and many other cities. they have produced over a dozen nationally-released recordings, and have been featured in national media, including National Public Radio’s Performance Today.
