"... called up" by Ebony G. Patterson

The Jamaican-born artist Ebony G. Patterson lives and works in Kingston, Jamaica and Lexington, KY, creating heavily layered installations and fabric-based works that often function as investigations into representing individuals of African descent. Patterson’s materials and motifs are deeply rooted in celebration, affirmation and beauty. For Kansas City, she discovered a long-abandoned hydrotherapy pool for children in Swope Park, and has transformed the site into a memorial for those who suffered from incurable ailments in the years before penicillin was developed.
