In collaboration with Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Hertitage Center, this year’s celebration will include the return of the popular Chicken dinner in honor of Kansas City native Charles “Yardbird” Parker.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

• Catered Chicken Dinner Hosted by Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center
• Charlie Parker Exhibit from the Sonny Gibson Collection
• Live Jazz Performance featuring the Elderstatesmen of Kansas City Jazz, Little Big Band
• Welcome Remarks by Center and KC Jazz ALIVE officials
• Jazz Talk by Historian Sonny Gibson. Mr. Gibson’s talk, entitled Personal Perspectives of Bird: The man and his music will illuminate his personal reflections of the iconic Kansas City jazz native and share the great work of celebrated jazz artist Eddie Baker.
