Jacob Burmood’s “Draped Form” will appear at the entrance in Swope Park as part of Open Spaces, suggesting both the Hellenistic Winged Victory of Samothrace and the draped, expressionistic figures in Auguste Rodin.
A relatively recent arrival to the Kansas City area where he is a member of the art faculty at Johnson County Community College, sculptor Jacob Burmood recently opened a rural Kansas studio where he produces ceramics and sculptures. His focus is large-scale outdoor work, and his most recent piece, Draped Form, appears at the entrance in Swope Park as part of Open Spaces, suggesting both the Hellenistic Winged Victory of Samothrace and the draped, expressionistic figures in Auguste Rodin.
