A year after shuttering its doors, Goethe Pop Up Kansas City is celebrating the reopening of its downtown event space with the multi-media exhibition Ankersentrum (surviving in the ruinous ruin)​ by Natascha Sadr Haghighian. First exhibited in the German Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, Ankersentrum casts a spotlight on the refugee and migrant situation in Europe. The exhibition has been on view in an abbreviated form in various venues throughout Europe. The installation at Goethe Pop Up Kansas City marks the debut of Ankersentrum in the United States.​      
 
The Goethe Pop Up is open to public with limited capacity and modified hours starting May 27.
