Artist Statement:
The technique of crafting photography in various ways is what I intended to do with the piece. Ever since a young age I have been obsessed with cameras and the things they can create. Having that mindset and ideals set into place, derived the concept for this piece. This piece includes a set of 80 camera paper castings, that include imagery of my birth certificate, my journal entries and my photography practice. All of these casting are used to express my photography journey from birth until now. The castings start in black and white and then they end in color.
Each group of five in the set of 80 tells a different story in my photography journey. Everyone says “a picture is worth a thousand words” and these paper casting are more than just a thousand words, they are my life. This piece is dedicated to everyone who has stepped in front of my camera and to my Professor, Hye Young Shin, who taught me the art of paper casting.
Exhibition Dates: June 19th, June 24th, June 25th and 26th. Exhibit on view during Gallery Hours 11am- 5pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
