What Lies Beneath: Rediscovering Hieronymus Bosch and Albrecht Bouts

This exhibition marks the first time the Hieronymus Bosch and Albrech Bouts paintings will be shown in KC since the change in attribution. Get a glimpse into the research that takes place behind the scenes in museums.

Recent scholarship has led to the identification and re-attribution of two paintings in The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art’s collection of European art. Hieronymus Bosch’s The Temptation of St Anthony and Albrecht Bouts’ Christ crowned with Thorns came into the collection as original compositions but were subsequently thought to be by the hand of assistants or imitators. Entrance to the Parking Garage is off Oak Street, just south of 45th Street. The garage is fully ADA accessible. Parking is $14 per car | Free for members A free lot at the corner of 45th Street and Rockhill Road is available first come, first served. Public parking may not be available there during special events.
