This two-hour workshop focuses on creative nonfiction and memoir writing.
This workshop focuses on individual, thoughtful writing, setting of scene, and arc of story in creative nonfiction. Participants will critique each other’s work and should have a basic understanding of memoir and travel memoir. Bring a work in progress, but those who want to begin a piece are welcome. We will help people who don’t have work prepared get started with their stories. Writers of nonfiction are also welcome to the workshop., MEMBERS $50; NON-MEMBERS $65

This will be a fun-filled, literary Saturday afternoon. After the workshop, you are welcome to stay for a little networking and reception, a book sale and signing. Stay for the reading. Noted award-winning author Max McCoy will join Patrick in reading from their most recent work. Patrick is author of two travel memoirs published by the University of Nebraska Press, including the award-winning Canoeing the Great Plains: A Missouri River Summer. McCoy is an award-winning author and journalist with 24 books, has won the Kansas Notable Book Award twice, and is a professor of journalism and the director of the Center for Great Plains Studies at Emporia State. His most recent work, Elevations: A Personal Exploration of the Arkansas River was published by the University Press of Kansas.
