Lullabies Till Dawn

A four hour event featuring artwork by Benjamin Parks from Lullabies Till Dawn, centered around an illustrated songbook with songs and narrative by Simon Fink chronicling early fatherhood, sleep deprivation, and music-making. The evening will host a performance that features The Wires string duo (Laurel Morgan Parks and Sascha Groschang), and a live reading. The event is FREE and open to the public. performances begin at 8:00 PM but the space will open at 5:00 PM to exhibition visual art work and pieces of the book, “Lullabies Till Dawn.”

“About four years ago I quit my job to stay at home and parent. I had recently finished studying composition in music school, but now my most creative periods were no longer at the piano or studio desk, but in the late-night rocking chair. Sleep-deprived contemplation replaced fastidious orchestration. My aim was no longer the aesthetic development of musical materials, engaging in the great Western tradition, but simply to crack the communication barrier with ones too young to understand language and to keep myself lucid in the process.” (Simon Fink)
