SAGES: Frida Kahlo's Garden

This illustrated talk, presented by Stephanie Fox Knappe, Samuel Sosland Curator of American Art at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, will provide biographical details and highlights of Kahlo’s fascinating career with special attention paid to her relationship with plants and their impact on her artistic expression. Stephanie Fox Knappe holds a doctoral degree in art history from University of Kansas. At KU, Knappe taught several courses in addition to serving as acting curator of European and American painting and sculpture at the Spencer Museum of Art before joining the curatorial staff at the Nelson-Atkins where she curated the exhibition Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Masterpieces of Modern Mexico from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection.
