Dueling Feasts: Cuisine of Emerging Kansas City Society | May 14, 6 pm | Alexander Majors Barn | Event 3 in our 3 part educational happy hour series featuring the surprising lives of Victorians and little-known secrets of Victorian society.
Two elite groups emerged in early Kansas City society – the French Creole and Southerners who settled Westport. Food tells us about the attitudes and values of both groups – and which one ultimately predominated.
With Dr. Andrea Broomfield, professor of English at Johnson County Community College and author of “Food and Cooking in Victorian England: A History” and “Kansas City: A Food Biography.”
