VIRTUAL Talk - Science meets Art: "Images of Science"

We invite you to a virtual talk examining the relationship between the arts and sciences. Join us as Dr. Matthias Haury, COO of the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, will talk about the intersections between scientific research and artistic discovery, the importance of fundamental scientific research and its impact on our society.

Part of the prestigious Max Planck Society based in Germany, the Max Planck Florida Institute is its first and only research institute in North America. Situated in the growing biosciences cluster in scenic Palm Beach County in South Florida, the Max Planck Florida Institute has created a vibrant, collaborative environment where scientists are provided generous support to conduct high impact research at the cutting edge.  Dr. Haury will present the latest in Neuroscience Research and an overview over the innovative educational projects that make the Max Planck Florida Institute a unique, transatlantic model institution for groundbreaking research and innovative training for the next generation of scientists.

During his lecture, Dr. Haury will also discuss the exhibition Images of Science – a collection of striking images captured from some of the Max Planck Society’s work around the world that provides a fascinating glimpse into the worlds of science, as well as the Institutes Science meets Music initiative.

Dr. Matthias Haury is Chief Operating Officer at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, in Jupiter, FL. He is an accomplished scientist with a Ph.D. in Immunology from the Pasteur Institute in Paris and a postdoc at University of California, San Francisco. He has been working in leadership positions at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science (IGC) in Oeiras, Portugal, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany, and for the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium before joining Max Planck Florida.
