Local Producer Screens Award-Winning "Elephants in the Coffee"
The film, co-produced by Lenexa resident Bhaskar Krishnamurthy, reveals the deadly conflict between coffee growers and elephants in India.
Farmers throughout the world struggle as agriculture competes with animals for land, but in southern India, the struggle has turned deadly. Elephants have killed a number of coffee plantation workers, especially near the Rajiv Gandhi National Park. The award-winning documentary "Elephants in the Coffee" examines the conflict between endangered elephants and farmers in southern India, a conflict that has killed hundreds of people and forced the government to capture dozens of killer elephants. The documentary was produced by CLIC Abroad in cooperation with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
