2019 ArtsKC Awards Luncheon Call for Artist

ArtsKC is seeking to commission a Kansas City artist to create 6 works of art and 100 table centerpieces to present to metro-area businesses and individuals in recognition of their leadership in the arts. The event is attended by over 1,000 leaders in the arts, business, and civic community.

Artwork may be 2- or 3-dimensional in nature and must be appropriate for the business setting. Because the awards will be exhibited together at the ArtsKC Awards Luncheon, the 6 works of art, and 100 table centerpieces should be similar in nature (i.e., part of the same series), but not
necessarily identical.

Eligibility and Selection:

This opportunity is open to visual artists residing in and around the five-county Kansas City region (Clay, Platte, Jackson, Johnson & Wyandotte). Winning artists from previous years are ineligible to submit. Proposals will be reviewed by a panel comprised of business and arts professionals.

Details:

Awards Commisson: $10,000.00 in total.
$6,000 for 6 works of art and $4,000 for 100 centerpieces in the spirit of the award design. Collaborations and edition pieces are welcome. Objects should be approximately 14” in height with a base of no more than 12”.

The Grand Ballroom at the Kansas City Convention Center.
11:00 am- 2:00 pm
The selected artist will be a special guest at the awards ceremony and will give brief comments from the podium. Their work will also be the focus of the pre and post event receptions at the venue.

VIP Post-Event Reception
Thursday, March 7th, 2019
Selected Artists’ Studio
5:00pm – 7:00pm
The selected artist will be asked to open up their studio post event for a reception hosted by ArtsKC for the artist and VIP donors of the luncheon. The guest list and all food and beverages will be provided by ArtsKC.

Artist Benefits:

In addition to the commission, this is a very high visibility event! The awards artwork will be part of the permanent collection of each business recipient. The selected artist will be a special guest at the awards ceremony and will give brief comments from the podium. They will have an exhibition at the Grand Ballroom, and will be asked to open their studio a week after the luncheon for an exclusive VIP donor post event reception, hosted by ArtsKC.
