SENIOR MANAGER OF DEVELOPMENT

Position Description 

As part of the Executive Leadership Team of ArtsKC, the Senior Manager of Development plays a vital role in the development and implementation of the team’s strategic fundraising goals. The Sr. Manager of Development in partnership with the Vice President of Development will identify, cultivate, solicit, steward and increase investment relationships with businesses throughout the Kansas City region, manage the grants submission process and develop and manage internal reports for deepening donor relationships and reporting to the board.

The Senior Manager will oversee and evaluate activities to expand financial support from corporations currently sponsoring ArtsKC initiatives; identify and cultivate relationships with new corporate partners to increase investment in ArtsKC programs; direct activities to accurately acknowledge corporate supporters; and work in close cooperation with the Senior Program Manager to implement or expand program offerings to engage Corporate Kansas City.

The position reports directly to the Vice President of Development and works closely with the Donor Relations & CRM Manager to implement ArtsKC’s overall fundraising efforts and sustain accurate and relevant donor records.

The Senior Manager will have the authority to enter into contracts for in-kind and paid services on behalf of ArtsKC and to set the terms for sponsorship agreements, as necessary to fulfill organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

Corporate Engagement:

Design and implement a comprehensive strategy to research, identify and solicit sources of corporate and institutional support
Develop and execute plans to secure corporate gifts that meet or exceed annual revenue goals
Manage reporting of corporate and special event sponsorship solicitations and progress toward goals to the ArtsKC Board of Directors and Business Committee for the Arts
Oversee the development of sponsorship benefits, recruitment of supporters, and delivery of benefits for the annual ArtsKC Awards Luncheon and oversee the activities of the Awards Luncheon Sponsorship Committee
In partnership with the Senior Program Manager, produce highly competitive sponsorship proposals, corporate services packages and other programs and collateral materials for engagement purposes (ArtsKC Presents, Now Showing, Awards Luncheon, Encounters, Inspiration Breakfast, etc.)
Provide strategic oversight for special fundraising events, and for corporate partnerships outside of traditional sponsorships
Attend community and chamber events, encouraging the development of relationships between ArtsKC and Corporate Kansas City
Oversee engagement of a potential Board for the purposes of Corporate Engagement.
Grants Management:

Work in conjunction with the Donor Relations & CRM Manager to monitor the organizational grants calendar
Serve as a liaison between Senior Leadership, the programs team, and the development team to identify workflow and handling of Grants
Serve as primary grant writer for the agency. Research new grant opportunities, track, prepare and submit agency proposals and reports and assist programs staff in submitting data for reports.
Manage outside contracted grant writing services when necessary.
Departmental Management:

Oversee, analyze and monitor donor data
Prepare, submit and evaluate various management reports such as yearly comparisons, projections, status reports, funder updates and usage data reports.
Maintain information on agency website, Salesforce database, utilization of email marketing and social media tools and assist with other content management duties for accurate and thorough constituent relationship management.
In conjunction with the Vice President of Development oversee and implement direct mail campaigns.
Joint Supervision and Mentorship of Donor Relations & CRM Manager with Vice President of Development
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters or CFRE is highly desirable
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the fundraising field, preferably with corporate and grants background and in-service nonprofit organizations.
Demonstrated experience using SalesForce or other CRM database
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Highly organized and acute attention to detail
Able to multi-task and meet deadlines
Comfortable working independently and in a team environment
Commitment to the mission of ArtsKC
