IV International Choral Festival InCanto Mediterraneo in Milazzo, Sicily

From 7th to 13th July, 2019 the suggestive Cittadella Fortificata - Castello di Milazzo will stage the event created and organized by the “Cantica Nova” Choral Association - Artistic Director, Francesco Saverio Messina - whose vocal ensemble has been performing since 1989. The previous editions of the InCanto Mediterraneo Festival, which have taken place biannually since 2009, have welcomed over 60 choirs and 2000 choir members from nations such as Finland, Bulgaria, The Philippines, Lithuania, Slovenia, Taiwan, Russia

VI Interational Choral Festival InCanto Mediterraneo

EXHIBITION SECTION: 7th – 9th July 2019This is a NON-COMPETITIVE section with performances over two different evenings:

Sunday 7th - SECULAR MUSIC: RENAISSANCE, BAROQUE, ROMANTIC, CONTEMPORARY
Tuesday 9th – POP AND FOLK MUSIC (any genre and/or era)
 
COMPETITION SECTION is divided into:
1. SACRED MUSIC COMPETITION 11th July 2019
Each participating choir will perform a single programme of sacred music to be sung EXCLUSIVELY “a capella” and lasting between 10-15 minutes on Thursday 11th. It is compulsory for the programme to contain at least three different pieces from the following eras, styles and genres: GREGORIAN, BYZANTINE, ORTHODOX, RENAISSANCE, BAROQUE, ROMANTIC, 20TH CENTURY, CONTEMPORARY, SPIRITUAL.
2. COMPETITION FOR THE INCANTO MEDITERRANEO TROPHY 12th – 13th July 2019It’s open for two different categories: CHOIRS AND VOCAL ENSEMBLES and CHILDREN’S CHOIRS. Participating choirs will perform 2 different programmes (one on Friday, and the other on Saturday) each lasting between 10-15 minutes. It is compulsory for their programmes to contain at least 3 pieces from the following categories: MEDIEVAL, RENAISSANCE, BAROQUE, ROMANTIC, 20TH CENTURY, CONTEMPORARY, POP, JAZZ, FOLK, SPIRITUAL.It is also compulsory for choirs to perform (in one of the two programmes) at least one piece composed or arranged by a contemporary Italian composer, to be chosen from the selection of pieces indicated by the Festival organizers.All the Performances are open to the public. Performances in the competition section will take place in front of a panel of International Judges chosen by the Festival’s Artistic Committee. The Jury will evaluate the choirs using the following criteria: TECHNICAL QUALITY, VOCAL QUALITY, STYLISTIC QUALITY, PROGRAMME QUALITY.
