Kansas City Irish Center
The Kansas City Irish Center first opened in 2007 on the lower level of Union Station. The mission of the Center is to preserve, promote, celebrate and support Irish culture in our community. The Center offers year-round programming, actitivities, concerts and classes that encompass all aspects of Irish culture and heritage, reflecting both the past and contemporary Ireland.
Ongoing programs include genealogy workshops, Irish language classes, monthly book club, weekly knitting and hand crafts, monthly Céilí dance classes, and music group learning opportunities. With the purchase of the Drexel Hall building in 2016, the Center moved from a small rental space in Union Station to a permanent home that includes meeting space, offices, and a 14,000 sq ft ballroom. The event space provides the oportunity for the Center to host larger events such as concerts and dance performances, while also generating revenue by renting the space for weddings, receptions, fundraisers, and other community events.
