Arts in  Prison uses the arts as a tool to inspire positive change in the incarcerated, to reduce recidivism and to reconnect offenders with their community. By participating in classes like creative writing, choir, yoga, crochet, poetry, drama, visual art, and meditation inmates gain skills in positive self expression, collaboration and empathy. Why does this matter to the greater community? Because 99% of incarcerated men, women and juveniles will return to their community. We believe that they can either come back with hope in their heart or hate in their eyes. We believe that practicing the arts makes that difference.
