In 2020, Dana Mengel and other musicians formed the Centroplis String Ensemble – a group committed to performing string music including original compositions by Dana Mengel.
Most of them have been long time friends and musicians who first came together to perform selections from Dana’s Oregon Trails Suite.
The ensemble includes Dennis Bogart, violin; Monty Carter, viola; Trilla Ray-Carter, cello; Matthew McGrory, bass; and Mark Lowry, percussion.
The ensemble’s name derives from early Kansas City history.
William Gilpin, politician, land speculator, and futurist had a theory that the Kansas City region would become a major metropolitan area because of geography and other natural advantages.
Current performances are virtual.
