Founded in 2010 and incorporated in 2011, the mission of the Arts Asylum is to provide a safe place to create for artists, performers, educators, and creative companies in Kansas City. We accomplish our mission by offering accessible gallery, studio, classroom, and performing space for artists from all backgrounds with ongoing programming and assistance from our team. Over our first six years, we have partnered with more than 20 organizations, including Crossroads Charter Schools, Union Hill Day School, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, Fishtank Theatre,  reStart, Paseo West Neighborhood Association, KC Improv Company, Fringe Festival, Johnson County Public Library – Antioch Branch, Barn Players, Sharp Women LLC, and Black Repertory Theatre. The Arts Asylum reaches more than 17,000 community members annually with our arts education programs, studios,community outreach and theatre productions.
