Eliza Mayo is an abstract, mixed media artist based in Kansas. Her works on paper incorporate myriad techniques including monotype printmaking, painting, drawing, and collage. Her work explores unintentional beauty and the tension between calm and chaos.

After a brief foray into studying photography, Eliza received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Ohio University. After graduating, she jumped at the chance to take a job at a small design studio in San Francisco. It was there that she began her exploration of monotype printmaking after stumbling into a hidden gem of a gallery with a print studio in back where she enrolled in weekend workshops. She continued her studies in Florence, Italy for a time before returning to the Bay Area and ultimately deciding, in 2009, to move to Kansas where she now lives with her two boys, their persnickety pug, and a scarcely-seen cat. She now has her own studio where at times she presses ink into paper, dips brushes into paint, or combines found ephemera in an effort to make beautiful things.

Eliza’s work has been exhibited in galleries across the nation and is in collections worldwide. When she’s not in the studio you can find her trying to make the world a better place through design for social service and non-profit organizations.
