I like to think of my work as abstract surrealism. I want the viewer enjoy the overall feeling of a piece rather than focusing on the traditional standards of classic art. My work is intended to invoke a specific feeling within the viewer. It is meant to be a different look at the world around us while still being semi recognizable to the audience. In my work I take everyday items that people are accustomed to seeing, breaking it down into their basic shapes, and putting the object back together again in a new and inventive way. I also focus on a specific feeling or mood while working. I think of what that feeling or mood would look like if it were tangible. I combine both of these pieces to create my work. I do use a variety of materials to make my work. I vary between painting, drawing, and etching. The bulk of my portfolio is created via mixed media. Most of it is done in black and white, however I have also recently started developing my painting technique as well. My objective is to create something unique and interesting to look at, while still invoking a sense of familiarity for the viewer.
