Ever since I was a child, I have been a creator of many sorts. Textiles, ceramics, drawing, you name it. Into my teens I really honed in on photography and videography, I really enjoyed it but I wasn’t passionate about it, and honestly I kind of lost myself for a while after graduating high school. I was easily bored and moved on to the next thing, and onto the next thing, and then to the next. Finally, I began experimenting with Abstract art and painting with acrylics. This became the first time that I finally felt “ah, this is it. This is me.” I’ve been pouring myself into it my art ever since and recently launched my website in October of this year.

In 2015, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri and earned a bachelor of science in nursing degree- I don’t have any formal art education. I truly thought nursing was going to be my lifelong career path, my calling… you know, working for a health system until I was 65 with a broken back, bad knees, and a terrible retirement but with a smile on my face. However, I recently left the nursing career that I loved enormously- I literally never thought I would leave. I was a cardiac transplant RN, It was fast-paced and ever-so-changing. I learned a lot during this time, about healthcare, people (thanks to them sharing beautiful stories with me), and myself. It was a hard job but my outlook on life and people changed- for the better.

With that being said, I am an empath. This made it difficult to balance work and home life after having two beautiful children. I cried almost every morning driving to work for my twelve-hour shift to show up with a smile on my face. So I decided to step away from my job to be more present for my babies and to be true to myself. My children are my whole entire world and they gave me the gift of finding myself in my art. Countless times, patients that I cared for nearing end of life would share advice such as “You won’t work a day in your life if you love what you do”. Or “time is a thief, hug those babies tight”. I love my children and I love being a creator.
