Richard is a formally trained artist working in the fine art forms of painting, drawing and sculpture. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute.

He is a recipient of the ArtsKC Fund Inspiration Grant Award and a Rocket Grant project awarded by Charlotte Street Foundation and the University of Kansas Spencer Museum of Art via funding through Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
