Emerging artist Katheryn Krouse has much to offer art aficionados and enthusiasts. Through her vast talents and wide use of mediums, Krouse creates a variety o...f artistic statements encompassing simple pleasures, the basic human essence, and complex emotions. Krouse’s range of interpretation and expression is natural and honest.

Krouse’s artistic journey began at an early age, and she has been on the fast-track to success ever since. Continually encouraged by teachers and professional artists alike, Krouse has embraced all aspects of the art she loves and has received much recognition and many accolades throughout her educational and art careers. Her first commissioned sale occurred when she was just a high school sophomore, and her art has been sought-after since Krouse’s ever-growing artistic resume includes such highlights as being a returning featured artist at art festivals and First Fridays. Krouse earned a Visual Fine Art Bachelor’s Degree, with an emphasis in Modern Art History in 2012. Enhanced by her studies and a variety of stimuli, Krouse’s style of artistic expression has continued to evolve and mature. But perhaps the most impactful influence was her August, 2010 diagnosis of Stargardt’s disease, at the age of 20. The most common form of inherited juvenile macular degeneration, Stargardt’s disease has affected Krouse’s vision and her ability to process light through her retinas. Currently affecting her visual contrasts, her brights are now brighter and her darks are now darker. It has affected the way in which she sees the world … literally.

“My world is beautiful,” Krouse said. “It is just different.”

Krouse now rejoices in the wonders and new visual experiences of her world as she expands and celebrates her career as a professional artist.

“It is a gift to continuously and publically communicate how I see the world,” Krouse said.

After graduating with her BFA, Krouse moved into a loft in downtown Kansas City where she works full time out of her home studio. With continuous inspiration, the urban lifestyle naturally makes its way into her artwork.
