Kansas City Poetry Slam is every first Wednesday of the month at Uptown Arts Bar (3611 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri). The sign up list to compete drops at 9 PM on a first come, first serve basis. 10 poets can compete for the first place spot and a $50 cash prize. There are three rounds, 10 poets in the first round, 5 poets in the second round and 3 poets in the third round. Each poet will be judged by 5 randomly selected audience members on a scale of 1-10. Each poet is allowed 3 minutes on stage with no props and no costume. Original work only, please.

Kansas City Poetry Slam is a PSi certified slam venue committed to the local, regional, and national poetry slam scene, developing poetic skill and stage presentation through workshops, themed slams, group rehearsals, and feature shows.
