Veterans Writing Workshop

Veterans Writing Workshop

Presented by KC Veterans Writing Team at The Story Center at MCPL

This free, day-long workshop on April 21st at the Woodneath Story Center at MCPL, is designed to give veterans and family members the tools and confidence to develop and write their own stories. Attendees can choose from a variety of sessions delivered by professional instructors. No prior writing experience is necessary. You can choose the classes you want to attend from two offerings for each hour of the workshop.

Develop your own writer’s toolkit by participating in educational instruction or fine-tune your craft by engaging in writing prompts for poetry or prose. Gain inspiration and confidence in your ability to tell your story.

Any past or present military member or the family member of a veteran can attend, although children must be over 16 years of age and have a parent present. Family members include spouses, children, siblings or parents.

There’s no cost to attend. Lunch will be provided by the Woodneath Library Center.

The Kansas City Veterans Writing Team is a nonprofit organization hosting veteran writing workshops and other writing sessions that encourage, energize and empower past or present military members and their families to tell their military stories as part of a healing process and to build camaraderie. Our work has been made possible through the monetary support of the Missouri Humanities Council, Woodneath Library Center, Kansas City Public Library System, Moral Injury Association of America, Kansas Humanities Council, The Writers Place and individual donors.
