The Feeling is Mutual

The Feeling is Mutual

Presented by Open House at Open House

The Feeling Is Mutual is a group exhibition that examines the concept of family through the work of twelve artists. Each artist photographs within their own family, be they biological or chosen. There is an emotional investment in portraying the subject because of the intimate relationship between the photographer and their subject. The result of this investment shows in the mutual affinity one can sense and see in the photographs. The artists here are not only photographing their families but also reflecting on themselves through their families. In that reflection of light onto film also comes love, guidance, and support – the foundation of family values.

Each exhibition of the project adds new and local artists but also contains work from the previous exhibition. The project thus changes as it travels, adding on new work and perspectives. Like a family in its own way, the connections shift, grow and change.

Come April 6th for the opening of The Feeling is Mutual, an event that functions simultaneously as a gallery exhibition and housewarming party. Open hours will be hosted on April 8th from 2-5pm and will be open by appointment through April 27th.

Exhibiting artists for The Feeling Is Mutual include: Samantha Belden, Nydia Blas, Blane Bussey, Graham Carroll, Troy Colby, Alison Dowd, Juan Giraldo, Tonia Hughes, Sarah Hiatt, Leigh Kaulbach, Lilly McElroy, and Sarah Stracke.
