How to Loiter

How to Loiter

Presented by Open House at Open House

How to Loiter: Kansas City seeks to reimagine and create public sites for loitering through a tongue-in-cheek Public Service Announcement style exhibition and campaign that examines the loitering laws in various communities around the United States. Over the last 3 years I have been leaving signs that say Reserved for Loitering in sites where I nd ‘No Loitering’ signs to create sites for loitering. I feel con icted about loitering laws which are meant to hide the problems of vagrancy, drug dealing and homelessness, but also to protect citizens and create safety. At the heart of this work are issues of who has access to public and private space in American towns and cities and the pros and cons of loitering.
