Presented by Vulpes Bastille at Vulpes Bastille

Dreamyou will be examining the divide between who we are physically, and who we are in thought. As AI technologies advance and the future of downloadable human consciousness becomes more of a reality it is important to examine what makes us human, and how that may change in the future. The two artists, Kyra Gross and Sophia Reed gaze into the gap between what is and what could be.

Kyra Gross’ work will be taking this idea into an art historical context by re-examining the origins of art making and self-observation. She is interested in early neolithic fertility statues and the truth of women being the first observers of self- becoming the human race’s first documentable artists. Her work will be picking up where these faceless and identity-less figurines left off. She is inspired by the potential of the malleable human form and the mysterious science surrounding human consciousness.

Sophia Reed will use objects as representations of self, attempting to make sense of place. She struggles through gravity with a wish to defy traditional understanding of daily artifacts. She sees beyond the simple and monotonous ways of the everyday. She uses these objects as a symbols for what we are, and could be. Mundane objects removed from their commonplaces, given new space. She fixes her eyes on what seems small and insignificant, yet constantly lost in another place. Reed wants to show the struggle in circumstance and a dream.
