Film | Raise the Roof

Presented by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

Join us for a screening of Raise the Roof, a film that documented the reconstruction of Gwoździec, an eighteenth-century wooden Polish synagogue featuring intricate ceiling murals that was later destroyed by the Nazis. The efforts of artists Rick and Laura Brown and Handhouse Studio inspired hundreds of people to join them, using their hands, old tools and techniques to bring Gwoździec’s history, culture, science, and art back to life. In partnership with the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education.
